My Food Philosophy

(Kira Post)

I am so excited to embark on this journey with Olivia. Children learn life habits about food and develop a relationship with food based on their experiences with how it is presented to them and what expectations adults have of what must or can be eaten.

Our idea for the book is to encourage our philosophy of not tricking kids into eating things that they do not want to eat. The recipes are being developed as a way to take foods that picky toddlers don't want to eat, and creating ingredient combinations that are appealing and pass the picky toddler test.

Yesterday's experiment involved putting a vegetable that was absolutely refused on a regular basis into muffins and then telling the toddler what was in them - giving him the choice of whether or not to try them. And he did! And more importantly, he liked them and ate them! It's time to focus our meal and snack efforts on combining disliked foods with liked foods, to present them as palatable. I am so excited about this adventure!!
